Kathy Miller
Kathy works exclusively in watercolor and watermedia. Although she
often paints still lifes and floral subjects, she prefers painting
landscapes, especially scenes of Virginia and the Outer Banks.
Her work reveals a strong interest in light, shadow, texture and detail.
Interested in art from childhood, Kathy put it aside after high school to
prepare to earn a living. After many years of teaching and raising a
family, she returned to art and has been painting since 1997. She
became a professional artist in 2003 and is a member of Uptown
Gallery, the Virginia Watercolor Society, and the Bon Air Artists
Association.
She participates in such juried shows as Arts Around the Lake, Art
Affair, the Maymont Flower and Garden Show, and the Virginia
Watercolor Societys annual exhibition, and has received awards in
many of them. Her work may be seen at Uptown Gallery or at her
home studio.
"I paint to encourage
people to look at their
everyday surroundings
with new appreciation.
Even cold grey days
and urban settings
have a poetry that we
can easily miss as we
go about our daily
lives."
