Anne Via
Anne Via, a native Virginian, went to Mary Washington College where
she earned a degree in Fine Arts. During her student years at Mary
Washington, she studied under Julian Binford.
Anne has taught art in both public and private schools in New Jersey
and in Richmond, where she and her family have lived since 1978.
The desire to devote more time to painting led Anne to leave teaching
in 1993. Since that time she has continued to improve her skills and
techniques as a colorist through classes and workshops provided
through the Uptown Gallery as well as other organizations. Much of
Anne's work is landscape with her subject matter taken from the
Richmond area, foreign travel and scenes from the Blue Ridge
mountains. She has most recently extended her reach into portraiture.
Anne primarily shows her work at the Uptown Gallery but her paintings
can also often be seen at other venues in the Richmond area.
