Ellen Wakefield
Oils and acrylics are my usual media, and I also work in pastels.
Landscapes are my favorite subjects. I paint on location or in the
studio from my own photographs or sketches. I have visited many
places, but nothing beats the beautiful Commonwealth of Virginia for
scenic beauty. From the flat expanses of the shore and Tidewater to
the rolling Piedmont hills to the serene majesty of our ancient
Appalachians, Virginia is a scenic wonderland in all seasons.
I have long been fascinated by the rhythmic harmony in the landscape,
and the interweaving patterns that I see all around me. It is almost like
music! What a wonderful world we live in! I am grateful for the chance
to express my emotions through my painting.
I appreciate the chance to exhibit my work with the fine artists at
Uptown Gallery. They inspire and encourage me and affirm me as an
artist.
